There are a few different categories of lilies. Hardy lilies are our favorite because they will thrive in a wide variety of climates. You can find hardy lilies in a variety of colors including white, yellow, pink , and many others. Lilies will take root on the bottom or side of your pond in water up to 6 feet deep. Most people like to plant them in a container so they can remove them when they clean their ponds. Lilies provide great shelter for many aquatic species and their flowers are absolutely gorgeous. In the winter time just trim the stems a few inches away from the root and leave it in the pond. As long as the water around the root never freezes the lily will sprout again when the water warms up again in the spring.
